Review from Dream Magazine (USA)
Vindharpen "Rejsen til Yenan" (Orpheus)
Many blessings to Orpheus Records for reissuing this Danish gem from 1975. Vindharpen were a quartet that employed; violin, piano, bass, percussion, sitar, klaver, harmonium, xylophon, congas, sav (fuchsswanz), marokkanske håndtrommer, kontrabas, pennywhistle, mandolin, mundharpe, gulvtamtam, maracas, and enstrenget banjo; to make a wonderfully varied and intoxicating kind of psychoactivated folk rock hybrid creation. Blending eastern and western, singing in Danish, and dreaming out loud. Transportational psychedelic organic mystic music, emanating a rosy glow from a hookah laced with optimism, fragility, good will and an appreciation of the space needed to unfold the full psychic flying apparatus (this will make you feel good). The fusion of sitar and Indian musical influences is warm and natural, but the ambitious sounds of Vindharpen range from neo classical, drone, ethereal, raga, Danish folk, pop, and more. The moody aura generated by this entire album is hauntingly evocative, and delicious. As essential as any reissue I've heard this year (and this has been a very good year for reissues).
